| (08-23-2007) WARNING....Jury Duty Phone Scam making the rounds Within the past several months, the number of Jury Duty Phone Scams have increased several fold. In a Jury Duty Phone Scam, a likely target is called up by a individual who claims to represent the Court as a "Jury Coordinator". They tell the target that they are calling to inquire as to why the target hasn't showed up for their scheduled Jury Duty. When the target protests that they never received a Jury Summons, the "Jury Coordinator" will request the Social Security Number and Date of Birth to verify and to cancel the arrest warrant. Once the "Jury Coordinator"
receives this information, the target's identity is stolen. What can you do to stop from becoming a victim? Remember that court officer never ask for confidential information over the phone, and will do this via US Mail. You should always remain cautious about giving out your Social Security Number or Date of Birth over the phone, and never give either item out when you receive an unsolicited phone call. The scam only works if you give them your information!
